Self-sufficiency
Self-sufficiency is not a single form of knowledge, but rather a way of thinking: the sum total of numerous complementary experiences, practical exercises, and the time and energy invested in them.
Moreover, self-sufficiency is not a static state, but a continuous ‘journey’ – not only because the number of necessary and accessible pieces of knowledge and practices is essentially infinite, but also because the environment – in which we put these to use – is currently changing rapidly.
All the workshops at Parasztsulin on this topic aim to provide useful guidance, whether it concerns knowledge of the landscape, ecology, water conservation, fruit trees, medicinal plants, animal husbandry, crop processing, preservation, or even knowledge of tools and craft techniques. Everyone may have a different path to ultimately get closer to the self-sufficiency they desire.
